A.J. Williams as listed in the Confederate Rosters, enlisted with his brother, Thomas W. Williams, and three cousins in the Monroe County, GA Confederate Volunteers on July 9, 1861. A. J. Williams surrended at Appomatox Courthouse in April, 1865. His brother, Thomas W. Williams, was killed at Channcelorsville.

Died February, 1864.

Wounded at Seven Pines with his brother, George. Captured in 1864 and was at Fort Delaware at the same time as the 'Immortal 600' then transfered to Point Lookout for the duration of the War. Exchanged (according to compiled service record) as 'one of 930 Confederate Soldiers, Civilians and Government officials' 2 weeks before the end of the War. Never swallowed the dog.

Died of wounds received at Seven Pines 19 days after enlisting

Charlie was a Captain, and the middle of three brothers in Company B. He survived the war, but I have read that he lost an eye. He was gunned down in the street in Sandersville in August of 1873 by Silas Sanders, who nourished a grudge from war days. Charlie had refused to grant him a furlough. Charlie left a wife Malinda and a daughter. Malinda was the daughter of David Solomon and lost two brothers, 1st Lt. Henry A. Solomon and 2nd Lt. Washington J. Solomon.

George was the oldest of three Kelly brothers to serve in Company B, and the last to enlist. He did not survive the war. He was on sick furlough and apparently died enroute to Georgia. His father Ezekiel was the brother of my second great grandfather, James Bloodworth Kelly, who also sent sons to war.

Rufus was the youngest of three Kelly brothers in Company B. He lost a leg in the battle of Jericho Ford. He was home recuperating in 1864 in Gordon, when word came that some of Sherman's army was coming through. He tried to rally the old men and boys, but only one man was with him when he rode out to confront the oncoming soldiers. He killed one soldier but was captured when his horse staggered. He was sentenced to be shot and put in a wagon, from which he escaped. He lived into his seventies. He and his wife had no children, but adopted a brother and sister. There are two markers in Wilkinson County telling his story.

James enlisted on 7/9/1861 in Gordon, Georgia by Captain Folsom. He was on furlough for being sick with dysentery. He was sent to the hospital in Richmond, VA on January 7, 1862. He was admitted to the C.S.A. General Hospital in Charlottesille, VA on 8/16/1862 to Ward F (at Lynchburg). He was admitted again on 6/13/1964 to the Jackson Hospital in Richmond, VA with dysentery. He returned to duty on August 13, 1863. James was in and out of the hospital and was diagnosed with Rheumatoid in Sept. 12, 1862, returning to duty on September 23, 1862. As of October 23, 1914 a note from the Adjutant General to the Commissioner of Pensions, State of Georgia, Atlanta reported: The records show that James Langford, private, Co. B, 14th GA Infantry, C.F.A., enlisted on July 9, 1861 at Gordon, GA. On the muster roll for Jan and Feb, 1865, last on file, he was reported 'Absent on sick furlough' at the time of surrender. No later record found.

William enlisted on July 9, 1961 in Gordon, GA with Captain Folsom. He fought in Lynchburg, VA with Captain Kelly but was admitted to the General Hospital No. 16 in Richmond, VA on Nov. 1, 1862. He died Nov. 14, 1862 from typhoid fever. His mother was notified by letter that he was absent from muster roll and in the hospital. After she was notified of William's death, his body was sent back to his mother, Mary P. Langford on the train to McIntyre, GA with a knapsack containing $81 and sundries. William is buried in McIntyre, GA.

Eli B. Lockley was my grand-uncle. Originally enlisted in the 12th S.C. Infantry Reg. During the Second Battle of Manassas he became separated from his unit and fell in with the 14Th Georgia Infantry where he had relatives( the Dennard Brothers).Eli was killed in action later that day (August 29,1862). He was 15 years old.

My great grandfather William E. Gilmer was born in Jasper County Georgia on August 14, 1848. In 1861, he enlisted in Jasper Volunteers (Co. C), 14th Gergia Infantry Regiment as a drummer boy. At the battle of Mechanicsville, he threw away his drum and was ordered to pick up a rifle musket. He was possibly the youngest Confederate soldier to become a rifleman. He fought in hard battles throughout the war with the 14th Georgia Infantry and finally deserted the Confederate army at the seige of Petersburg in March 1865 and walked home to Jasper County Georgia. William E. Gilmer moved to Texas in 1872, where he got married and settled in Lampasas County where he remained for the rest of his life.

Enlisted as a 3rd Sergeant on 9 July 1861 at the age of 24. Promoted to 2nd Lieutenant on 12 December 1861. Wounded at Fredericksburg, VA on 13 December 1862.

Commissioned as a 1st Lieutenant on 9 July 1861 at the age of 22. Promoted to Captain on 12 December 1861. Surrendered on 9 April 1865 at Appomattox Court House, VA.

Enlisted at the age of 44. Promoted twice and received the CSA Medal of Honor. Died of wounds received during the Battle of Chancellorsville

Aaron was 50 years old unpon enlistment. He was twice wounded at the Battle of Gaines Mill, in the shoulder and thigh. He was discharged from the hospital at Bunker Hill, Va. upon direct order of General Lee and General T.J. Jackson.

Wiley Gibson Hollums, son of Aaron Hollums was in every battle the 14th participated in; captured July 4th at Gettysburg; 2 years in prison at Fort Delaware until paroled at the James River at the close of the war.

William was the son of Aaron Hollums. He was shot in the face at the Battle of Gaines Mill and died two days later at the Hospital at Bunker Hill, Va,

Josiah Blair Patterson of Company E served was a school teacher from Cumming Ga. who enlisted with Lester's Volunteers in Cumming GA in June 1861 at the age of 46. As a young man he had served in the Seminole War (1835-1842). After surviving dozens of engagements (including Gettysburg)he was killed during the Battle of Spotsylvania Courthouse (during Grant's charge of May 12, 1864) on the eastern side of the 'Mule Shoe' salient. According to family history, Josiah was wounded by canister shot and as he was being removed from the field he and his litter bearers were hit again by canister shot, which killed all three men. I am interested in any and all info on the Ga. 14th Infantry Regiment, especially Company E from Cumming GA. (Forsyth County GA).

From Laurens County, GA, William enlisted on July 9, 1861. He was wounded on Dec. 13, 1862. Appointed 2nd Corporal in 1864 he was eventually appointed Sergeant. Captured on March 25,1865 at Petersburg, Va. and taken to Point Lookout Prison, Maryland, where he was released on June 28, 1865. William had fought in 22 battles. The 14th Georgia Infantry Regiment was organized by Colonel A.V. Brumby during the spring of 1861 with men recruited in Jasper, Johnson, Pierce, Dougherty, and Worth counties. Ordered to Virginia the unit served under General Floyd in the Kanawha Valley, then was assigned to General Wade Hampton's, J.R. Anderson's, and E.L. Thomas's Brigade, Army of Northern Virginia. It was active from Seven Pines to Cold Harbor, endured the battles and hardships of the Petersburg siege south of the James River, and ended the war at Appomattox. The regiment had 379 effectives in April, 1862, and sustained 138 casualties during the Seven Days' Battles, 28 at Cedar Mountain, and 52 at Second Manassas. It lost 8 killed and 67 wounded at Chancellorsville and twelve percent of the 331 engaged at Gettysburg. On April 9, 1865, there were 20 officers and 147 men present. The field officers were Colonels A.V. Brumby, Robert W. Folsom, Richard P. Lester, and Felix Price; Lieutenant Colonels James M. Fielder, Washington L. Goldsmith, William A. Harris, and W.S. Ramsey; and Major Charles C. Kelley.

Enlisted on July 9, 1861. Admitted to the hospital on 9 AUG 1862. Died on 16 Aug 1862 of diptheria or typhiod fever at the Chimborazo Hospital in Richmond, VA. Brother to William NOBLES of this company and relative of William Jackson HALL. Unit called the 'Blackshear Guards'. His pocket book contained $30.

Enlisted in 23 Jul 1861. Was in the hospital in Williamsburg in March 1862. Did not survive the war. Died 3 Apr 1863 of pneumonia, Field Hospital 2nd Corps, Virginia. He left $5.00 in confederate money.

Joined July 12, 1861. Died 1 Dec 1862 of typhoid fever in Danville General Hospital.

Johnson, James P.- enlisted July 12,1861. Wounded at Chancellorsville, Va. May 3, 1863. Captured at Hatcher's Run, Va. March 25, 1865. Released at Point Lookout, Md. June 28, 1865.
