Wounded (in spine and ankle) and captured at Fox's Gap, MD, September 14, 1862. Resignation accepted by War Department, December 31, 1863.

Private James H. Carlile served in Company O (The Marrietta Guards) of the Phillip's Legion of Georgia. He was wounded in the leg at Sharpsburg and went on to survive the war.

George W. Fenn died of dysentery in Richmond Hospital, and is buried at Hollywood Cemetery, Richmond.

Where and when did he enlist? Was he originally in the Etowah Infantry?

I have no other information about his service, etc. I found an article in the Andalusia, Alabama newspaper. He is my g-g-great Grandfather.

Newton was the only one of four Fenn brothers to survive the war. He was wounded in May, 1864.

William P. Fenn was killed in action during the Battle of Fort Sanders in Knoxville, TN.

Pinckney 'Pink' R Heaton - Enlisted 3/1/1862, WIA (lost two fingers) 8/29 or 8/30/1862 at Second Manassas, Discharged from service 5/9/1863, Born 5/15/1836 in SC to Samuel & Malinda Heaton, Older brother of Zach Heaton, Died 5/16/1900, Buried at Zebulon Baptist Church Cemetery in Stephens County.

Joshua was born 22 June 1824 in Hall County, Georgia. The 1860 census find him at age 35 in Woodstock, Cherokee County Georgia. The Post Office is at Canton. He enlists 2 Aug 1861 from Cobb County in Capt. Puckett's Cavalry Company for the war. His horse is valued at $175 and equipment at $25. The unit is sent to Virginia where it was mustered into Confederate Service on 9 Aug. Assigned to Floyd's Brigade, Army of the Kanawa. Sent to fight in Western Virginia where they suffered from the cold and an outbreak of Measels and Typhoid. Dec 1861 they were ordered to South Carolina to recover. 17 June 1862 Joshua is discharged due to disability at Camp Elzey, So. Car. He died 11 June 1880 at Cleburne, Johnson County Texas and is buried in there. He was the father-in-law of my 3rd cousin 4 times removed. He has 5 cards in his archival file.

Manasseh entered Phillip Legion as a Private and records show he survived the war and left as a 2nd. Lt. I know when Gen. Sherman came through Atlanta he was able to leave his unit and go home to evacuate his family. This was told to my Grandmother by Grace Lamar McGinty, Manasseh's little sister who was about 8 year old. They all escaped to Marietta on a rail flat-car. I would like to learn the battles Company L of Phillip Legion fought and if he was ever wounded.

Company M, Denmead Volunteers - Killed in action at Battle of Fox's Gap, Maryland 14 September 1862. Nephew of William Banister, Sr. who also served in Company M. Son of John Banister and Mary Murdock. Exact burial site unknown at present.

Company M, Denmead Volunteers - Left arm severely wounded at Battle of Fox's Gap, Maryland 14 September 1862. Disabled for the remainder of the war. Uncle of 1st Corporal William M. Banister who also served in Company M.

Entered service on or about 29 Apr 1862 at Marietta, GA. Died at Martinsburg, VA (Later WV) of fever on or about 23 Sep 1862. Possible burial at Green Hill Cemetery as one of 30 unknown Confederate soldiers.
