G-G-G-Granduncle. Enlisted: Rockville, IL 27 SEP 1861. Suffered head wound and partially paralyzed, Fort Wagner, SC 16 AUG 1863. Discharged 27 SEP 1864. Died 1867 following surgery to treat effects of his wound.

Escaped 1 OCT 1864 after passing through the line of Andersonville Prison for an exchange, using the name of a soldier who had died. Rejoined regiment, and provided deposition testimony for the trial of Commandant Wirz. Mustered out, 6 DEC 1865. Died, Hayes Center, NE 1927.

George Theodore Langly Drake enlisted as a volunteer at Newton, Massachusetts. He wound up with the 39th Illinois Infantry, Company K, and never returned from the Civil War. Parents were Tisdale Drake and Ruth (Langly) Drake from Bristol and Franklin Counties, Massachusetts. He had one daughter, Anna Newell Drake.

John Andrew Reed was my GG-Grandfather. He enlisted at Marseilles 8/19/1861 and re-enlisted as veteran and served until the end of the war. Lived in Princeton, Ill until he died in 1920

James Shaw was my Great-grandfather. Joined up in Captain Woodruff's Company on Aug.14, 1861 at Marseilles Illinois. His assignment was musician in the regimental band. Due to illness he was discharged October 1862 but signed up again in 29th Michigan Infantry in 1864. After the war he moved to California and then to Australia with his wife and children. He was born in Portsoy, Banffshire, Scotland, June 22 1834 and died Dec. 29, 1915 at the age of 82, buried in Waverley Cemetery, Sydney NSW Australia
