Thomas was the son of Thomas J. and Elizabeth Davis. He lived in Newton County, Missouri before the war. He and his younger brother were in the same unit. His brother, George, was in the 1st Arkansas Cavalry (Union) and was killed at the Battle of Fayetteville 18 April 1863. His brother, Philip, was in the 15th Missouri Cavalry (Union). His brother, James was a confederate soldier and was killed near the Missouri/Arkansas border.

He had at least three wives, Alice Kinkead, Katie Jane (Wingo) Morrison and Louisa Amanda Sanders. He was my great great grandfather.
