Born December 1834 in Orange Co. North Carolina to Samuel Smith Claytor (b. about 1794 in Bedford Co. Virginia) and Rachel Cabe (b. 08/29/1805 in North Carolina). Harvey Edwin Claytor married Mary Frances Breeze (b. August 1844 in Orange Co. North Carolina) on 10/13/1864 in Orange Co. North Carolina. They had 4 children. Occupation listed variously as a Miller, Machinist and Carpenter. Died sometime before 02/04/1920 in North Carolina. (1st Cousin 4 times removed)

Born January 1834 in North Carolina to Samuel Smith Claytor (b. 1794 in Bedford Co. Virginia) and Rachel Cabe (b. about 1805). Samuel Baker Claytor married Elizabeth Graves Lovick (b. about 1836 in North Carolina) in 1866. They had one son. He died 12/22/1916 in Raleigh, North Carolina and was interred in Oakwood Cemetery - Raleigh, North Carolina (Confederate Section). (1st Cousin 4 times removed)

Commissioned as a 3rd Lieutenant on 18 April 1861 at the age of 25. Promoted to 1st Lieutenant on 7 September 1861. Mustered out on 12 November 1861.

First Confederate Casualty of the Civil War. Killed at Big Bethel Va 10 June, 1861 ( the war's first major land battle ) After the Confederate Government took charge of North Carolina's troops the 1st Inf would be designated the 11th Inf.and forever known as the ' Bethel Regiment ' They would distinguish themselves on many bloody battlefields as part of the Army of Northern Virginia. Enlisted in 'Buncombe Rifles' 24 April 1861 at Asheville, N.C.; served until Unit mustered out of service 12 November 1861 at Richmond, Va. Later served in Co. K, 60th N.C. Infantry

John Hamill was a member of the 'Enfield Blues' Co. I 1st NC. Later in Co. D, 24th NC. Wounded in the face at Drury's Bluff and lay upon the field of battle for one day before being carried to hospital. Survived the war and died in Halifax County, North Carolina ca. 1905. Mentioned in the book 'Rebel Boast' by Manley Wade Wellman written in the 1950's. He is my g-g-grandfather.

Dellinger, Peter resided in Lincoln County prior to the war where he enlisted on April 25, 1861 for 6 months. Died at Yorktown, VA on October 19, 1861. He is buried in Yorktown, VA.
