I have a copy of his sworn statement that reads 'I Stephen J Still do solemnly swear that I was conscripted or forced into the Confederate service some time in 1863 in Col. Shailins regiment in Matthews County but I do not remember the letter of the company or the number of the regiment. I served about 4 months and as soon as I could make my escape from them I went and enlisted in the US Army where I wanted to be all the time from the commencement of the war.' This was notorized in 1899. He was with the 2nd Cavalry on the Union side. This is denoted on his headstone in Osborne Cemetery near St. Joe Arkansas

My direct descendent Great, Great Grandfather. Looking for information on George W. Campbell, Captain, 14th Arkansas Volunteer Infantry, CSA. So far all I can find is that he enlisted served in Company D under Powers and died on December 31, 1862, of disease outside of Mississippi. The Arkansas 14th (Mitchell''s-Powers'') Infantry Regiment was organized during the fall of 1861 with 939 officers and men recruited in the northwestern region of the state. They fought at Elkhorn Tavern and later moved east of the Mississippi River. The regiment reported 17 casualties out of the 116 engaged at Iuka, and there were 12 wounded and 2 missing at Corinth. I would like to know where he was buried.

Dickson Spears was my great grandfather. He was involved in the siege of Port Hudson, LA and was captured July 9, 1863. He was one of 405 officers sent to Johnson's Island POW camp in Ohio. He was transferred to Point Lookout, MD on May 21, 1865 and was then released on June 12, 1865. I do have a copy of a hand drawn portrait of him in uniform and will get it posted to here soon.

My Grandfather, Joseph Marion Wolf, first enlisted in Co.B 1st Ark. Mtd. Rifles, after Wilson''s Creek he transfered to Co.I, 14th (Mitchell/Powers) Arkansas Infantry to be with his many brothers and cousins that were part of that unit. He served in all the mjor engagements of the 14th. After surrender at Port Hudson he went back to Ark and became part of the 1st Ark. Consolidated Infantry fighting and Jenkins Ferry amounbg other places. He surrendered in Marshall, Texas 0n May 26, 1865.
