Hardy's Regiment Infantry

M.J. Goodson enlisted in 1861 in Sevier Co. AR in Dawson's infantry which later was combined into. hardy' infantry.

Thomas, son of Jesse Ashcraft and Sarah McClellan, b abt 1828 SC, enlisted 15 Jul 1861 at Eagle Creek AR as a private. His wife, Margaret, received state assistance for herself and their children while Thomas served (dates unavailable) in Crawford's Battalion before it became part of Hardy's Regiment. Thomas survived the war and returned home to Bradley (now Cleveland) Co. AR.

Arthur's record consists of one card. He was in his mid 20's when he joined Co. A Hardy's Regiment Arkansas Infantry. He died at home on 18 Oct. 1863 of Typhoid Fever. He was the husband of Martha Jane Thomas dau of John C and Sarah Terrell of Cleveland Co. Arkansas.

William was born 15 Nov 1824 in Bibb County Alabama. He enlisted with the formation of Hardy's Regiment on 1 Feb 1863 at Eagle Springs, Benton County Arkansas. Comprised of and by consolidation of men from the 19th [Dawson's] and 24th Arkansas & Crawford's Infantry. Campaign credits are Red River Campaign , Battle of Pleasant Hill & Battle of Jenkins Ferry. Assigned to Trans Mississippi Dept. and surrendered 26 May 1865 at Shreveport Louisiana under the command of Gen. Kirby Smith. Most of the men just went home. He was about 38 years old at enlistment. He was the Father in Law of my 4th cousin 3 x removed. Died 21 March 1909 in Kedron, Cleveland Co. Ark. Buried at Mount Zion Cem. at Rison is aforesaid county.

Euclid was born in Tennessee in 1839, the son of Alexander and Serena (Johnson) McPherson. Euclid Alexander McPherson served in Co. B, 1th Arkansas Infantry. He was captured on Island 10, and sent as a prisoner of war to Camp Douglas in Illinois, now known as a despicable prisoner of war camp. Died at Camp Douglas 8/25/1962. A marker was placed for him in Benton, Arkansas by the Dau of Confederate Veterans

he enlisted on the tenth of april in 1863 at Washington, Ark. on the same day as Martin Mouser and Stephen Mouser who both entered Company F 24th Arkansas Inf.

Asberry S. Sutton, Born at Blount Co., Tn on the 9th Day of May 1826; died at Hempstead Co., AR on the 13th day of June, 1896. Asberry S. Sutton was my great-great grandfather. He was married to Anna Mouser, who's brother, John Mouser, also served in Company D. Asberry Sutton's daughter, Sara Elizabeth (Lisa) Sutton married Hector Thomas McKinnon, my great grandfather.

he enlisted in Company E, Second Infantry Volunteers, under Col. M. L. Stevens, of Illinois, and was elected captain of his company by a unanimous vote, serving from 1863 until August, 1865, when he was honorably discharged. He served principally in Arkansas (34th Arkansas Regiment, Confederate Infantry)and was in two hard fought battles, being in the eight days' fight before the battle of Jenkins' Ferry, besides skirmishes while on scouting duty in Newton and Boone Counties. He was an excellent soldier, but his hard service considerably undermined his health, which has never since been as good as could be desired. Capt. and Mrs. McPherson are members of the Primitive Baptist Church, of which the Captain has been a minister since 1869

Robert was my GG Grandfather. He was born in Henderson Co, TN in 1839. He moved to Mena, AR in 1855 and joined the Confederacy on 25 June 1862. He was in Co. H, 24th, Regt Ark Inf CSA. He was also in Co E, Dawsons Regt. I show him as a Major at the end of the war. Robert was a Confederate the rest of his life. He flew his flag on his wall all year except Confederate Day when it flew outside his home. He also wore his Confederate uniform on that day and walked around Cumby, TX where he lived. He lived to be 101 and wore the uniform until it wore out. One was rented for his 100th birthday & he was also buried in his originial uniform.

Was killed in battle on Sept 3, 1864 and is buried in Ft Smith National Cemetery, Ft Smith, Arkansas

Clifford Newton Westerman was born September 20, 1838 in Perry County, Tennessee to Clifford Doak and Frances (Fugate) Westerman. Clifford first enlisted April 28, 1862 with the 24th Arkansas Infantry, Company K, where he was advanced from private to corporal. After the fight at Arkansas Post, the 24th Arkansas was consolidated with some other regiments to form Hardy's Consolidated Regiment. In this regiment, Clifford was in Company H and was advanced from corporal to sergeant. He served with his unit until the end of the war.

Luther Strow enlisted at Rocky Comfort, Sevier County (now Little River County) on March 5, 1862. He was assigned to Co 'E' of Dawson's 19th Regiment. Later served in Hardy's Regiment in Co. 'K'. He is listed on some rolls as L. W. Strow.
