Curtis A. Jackson born 1838. Son of Levi and Jemima Jackson, White Co. Ga 24th Ga Infantry. Captured at Cold Harbor Va and imprisoned at Elmyra, NY. He died of gangrene while there and is interred in plot #1505.

Born 1836 in White County, Ga. Son of Levi and Jemima Jackson. Enlisted on August 24th 1861 in 'White County Marksmen' Company C. 24th Ga Infantry. Service records show he was detailed as a Division teamster. He was a patient in Jackson Hospital, Richmond Va for most of October 1864 with a minie ball injury to his left hand. He lost a finger to this injury. He returned to duty and remained with the 24th and was among the 60 men from 24th Ga, and 7 men from Company C, who were surrendered at Appomattox. He returned to White County Ga after the war. He died in 1882 and is buried in Lawrence Cemetery in White Co. Ga. His youngest son Jesse was my grandfather

Francis Marion Jackson born 1839 Son of Levi and Jemima Jackson White Co. Ga. Mustered into 24th Ga Co. C. August 1861. Transferred to 3rd Battallion Ga Sharpeshooters Co. B Died 1870 buried in White Co. Ga.

William L. Jackson born 1834. Son of Levi and Jemima Jackson of White Co. Ga Joined 24th Ga Co. C January 18.1862. Died at home in either 1863 or 1864.

James enlisted 6 Sept 1862 at Decatur, White Co. Georgia for the war. He was shot in the head and blinded in both eyes at Gettysburg, Pa. on 2 July 1863. Captured on the 5th and taken POW and sent to DeCamp Hosp. on Davids Island in NY Harbor. He was released and given a surgeons discharge for disability. He is related to me by marriage.

Joel was captured at the battle of Deep Bottom outside Richmond and died at Elmira Prison Camp on March 30, 1865

Private Nace Walls was born in Pendleton District, SC on 25 December 1820. He enlisted in Company E, 24th Georgia Infantry Regiment on 4 Mar 1862. He fought with this unit until his transfer to Company E, 3rd Georgia Sharpshooter Battalion on 8 Jun 1863. He remained with this unit through the rest of the war. He died on 15 January 1884 in Rabun County, GA. He married Nancy Jane Roach in 1839 and had several children, Clarinda, Willam, Drury, Martha, James, Nancy, Mary, and Davis. His son, Drury, fought in the 2nd NC Infantry regiment and in the 21st Georgia Infantry Regiment.

My great grandfather John Wesley Blackburn enlisted in the Gwinnett Co., GA Independent Blues in the summer of 1861, rose to the rank of Ordinance Sergeant. This company became part of the 24th GA Inf. Regiment, Cobb's (later Wofford's) Brigade, McLaws Div., Longstreet's I Corps, CSA.

Miles Elmore Ewing (1844-1921) Gwinnett County GA Enlisted Aug 24,1861 (age 17) as a Pvt. Became 1st Sargent in 1863. Captured June 1,1864 at Cold Harbor VA. Initially held at Pt. Lookout, MD, until June 11,1864. Was transfered to Union prison camp at Elmira NY. Released June 21, 1865. On Dec 21, 1865, married Antonette (Nettie) Virginia Whitworth. They had eighteen children including a set of twins. They were the parents of my maternal grandfather, Edgar Elmore Ewing.

General U.S. Grant Commanding Armies of the United States. Done at Appomattox Court House, Va April 9, 1865.

Andrew was born 19 Feb 1835 in Clarksville, Habersham Co. Georgia. He was 26 years old when he enlisted at Clarksville for the war. Enlisted by Capt Mosley. He was engaged in 19 major battles and skirmishes before he was taken as POW on 3 July 1863 at Gettysburg. Sent to Fort Delaware and on to Point Lookout Md. He was exchanged at Camp Lee near Richmond on 21 Feb 1865. He died 24 Aug 1931 at Desdemona, Eastland Co Texas and is buried at De Leon Cem. De Leon, Comanche Co. Texas. We are related on my mothers side by a very distant marriage.

Adams for the war in Franklin Co. on 1 March 1863. He has 7 Cards in his archival file. His first fight was at Chancellorsville Va. then Gettysburg, Manassas, Wilderness, Spotsylvania, North Anna River, Cold Harbor, Petersburg, Shenandoah Valley, died on the 16th of August at the 2nd battle of Deep Bottom Run aka Front Royal. His wife remarried to Col. Joseph Washington Dodd and moved to Texas. We are related by a distant marriage..

Smith Crumley, my grt-grt grandfather, was 17 when he enlisted along with his 19 year old brother George in a company raised by Robert McMillan in Habersham(now White) county Georgia. They entered CSA service as Co. K 24th Georgia Infantry Regmt. They fought in all the major battles of the Army of Northern Virginia. Smith was wounded at Fair Oaks, and was later admitted to Chimborazo Hospital No. 3 with dibilitas and was not present at the battle of Fredericksburg, returning to the 24th on 17, Dec. 1862. In June 1863 he and his brother George were selected from the company ranks for transfer to the newly formed 3rd Georgia Battalion Sharpshooters, Co. B. Smith Crumley survived the war,lived as a Methodist minister, and farmer in White County, Georgia. He would become the last full-time gate keeper of the Unicoi Turnpike. He died in 1932, and was laid to rest next to his wife, Julia Anne, in the cemetery of the Chattahoochee Methodist Church in Robertstown Georgia, just north of the town of Helen.

Fuller, Ezekiel - 2nd Lieutenant August 20, 1861. Wounded at Crampton’s Gap, Maryland on September 14. 1862. Elected 1st Lieutenant May 4, 1863; Ezekiel made Captain June 23, 1863. He was Captured at 'Deep Bottom, Virginia' on August 16, 1864. Released at Fort Delaware, Delaware June 17, 1865. (Ezekiel was born in Habersham County, Georgia March 24, 1834) He also was the Witness on Isaac S. Pitts Civil War Pension in 1895. Both Ezekiel and Isaac S. Pitts were in the same Co.

Older brother of Samuel and Thomas McClure. He joined June 30th, 1862, at the age of 34. He was on sick leave throughout the war, when the war ended, he was absent on leave.

Joined the regiment on the day of his formation, August 24th, 1861, as 3rd Sergeant at the age of only 19. He was killed at the battle of Sharpsburg, he received a shot from a cannonball that nearly severed his left arm, just below the shoulder.

At the age of 21, Thomas joined the regiment on the day of its formation, August 24th, 1861. He was captured at the battle of Gettysburg during Wofford's brigade's fighting in the wheatfield and below Little Round Top. He was transferred to Elmira, New York and released there in 1865.

He was first send to Point Lookout Prisoner Camp , MD., then later he was send to Elmira, New York and was released on July 7, 1865. Isaac S. Pitts, served and filed in Habersham Co., GA. for Pension. Isaac S. son, David J. Pitts, was also in the same Co. Isaac was the son of Charles C. Pitts JR. of Pickens Co., SC

S.L. enlisted Aug 24,1861 in Habersham Co, GA at age 38. He fought in all of the major battles of the 24th until he was captured on Aug 16,1864 in Front Royal,VA. He was taken to the Old Captitol Prison in D.C. then transferred to Fort Delaware. He arrived at Elmira Prison in N.Y. on Aug 28,1864, where he was imprisoned until Feb 1865 when he was released as a prisoner exchange. He then went to Chimborazo Hospital in Richmond,VA where he was treated for pnuemonia and returned home to Habersham Co. He died Jan 27,1906 at the home of his son William,in Homer,Banks Co.,GA at the age of 82 and was buried along side his wife Caroline, in Amy's Creek Baptist Cemetery near Old Sautee, GA.
