Benjamin Dawson, my 2nd Great Grandfather, enlisted on October 9th, 1861 as a private in Co F, 1st Reg, 1st Brigade, of the Georgia State Troops. He was released in April 1862 and enlisted in Co 'B', 47th Regiment, Georgia infantry, Army of Tennessee as a Private. He Died in the Regimental Hospital, Savannah Georgia on October 20th, 1862. His Second enlistment was as a substitute for A.J. Ward. It is believed that he is buried in Randolph County Georgia.

Enlisted 3-4-1862 Co C, GA 11th Battalion. Transferred 5-12-1862 into Co C, 47th GA Inf Rgt. Hospitalized 8-31-1863 in French's Division Hospital, Lockhart, MS. Died Mar 1906, Bulloch Co, GA. Buried in Bethlehem Primitive Baptist Church Cem, Bulloch Co, GA.

Servered under Gen. Joesph Johnson : Surrender May 1865 Greesboro N.C.

This is my great-grandfather, and I would like to know more about him. He was born in NC, according to Census reports, but evidently died in Echols Co. GA.

Enlisted into Co.'F', came home sick at end of war and died shortly thereafter.

Enlisted 4/29/1862 into Co.'F', listed in Breckinridge's Division Hospital at Marion, Miss. 10/1863. Killed at John's Island, SC. 7/10/1864 and buried by a large oak tree.

John Bunk Lynn was my great-great grandfather, and he is buried at Little Flock Church cemetery near Riedsville, GA.

From what I can gather from sources on the Internet, my Great Great Grandfather Thomas Thompson joined Company H of the 47th Georgia Infantry at the tender age of 19 along with his two younger brothers John Andrew Thompson (18) and Berry Thompson (17) in March 1862. Thomas and John Andrew were supposedly wounded at the Battle of Missionary Ridge outside Chattanooga in late 1863, whereas the youngest brother, Berry, served until surrendered with the rest of the regiment and all those under the command of Joseph E. Johnston at Durham Station in North Carolina in April 1865. I would like to know if anyone has any further information such as diaries, letters, photographs or even a regimental history.

Enlisted as Sergeant, promoted to 2nd Lieutenant to replace Lt. T.E. Bourquine, who died March 25, 1864.

Lewis, General- private February 21,1863. Roll for February 28,1863, last on file, shows him present. Pension records show he was in Whiteville, ( ?) S. C. hospital with typhoid fever October 1864. Unfit for further service.
