59th Georgia Infantry

caleb was wounded and captured at Getteysburg. He was a part of a prisoner swap at David's island in new york harbor. He returned to the 59th and was Appomaddix at the surrender. He returned to Marion County Georgia. After my grandfather was born, I have lost all traces of Caleb.

Originally enlisted in 1st Georgia State Troops. Once he was discharged from that unit he joined the 59th. Captured at the Battle of Deep Creek and held prisoner in Point Lookout Prison camp. Released at end of the war

Born in May of 1832 was wounded in the left leg during the battle of Cold Harbor in Virginia on June 2nd 1864 he passed away on July 20th 1905 he is laid to rest in the Faircloth family cemetary in Cairo Georgia

Like his brother above him, he took the rebel stand. He survived the war and died in 1904

Born 16 Dec 1828 in Washington County Georgia. Enlisted 8 May 1862 marked as present on musters from May 1862 through June 1863. Died 22 June 1863 in Staunton Va hospital from the effects of erysipelas. Buried in mass grave at Thornrose Cemetery in Staunton, Va.

William enlisted 6 August 1862 and was sent home January 1865 due to a bad case of diarrhea. He was unable to return to service.

James Revel (my grandfather), was captured at Gettysburg, July 3, 1863. He died as a prisoner, at Ft. Delaware January 8, 1865. He is buried at or near Ft. Delaware.

William B. Herndon, my Gt. Gt. Grandfather on my father's mother's side of the family, was killed on/about July 10, 1863, at Funkstown, Maryland. I am in possession of a copy of a letter, dated July 11, 1863, written to his widow from a Josiah E. Williams informing her of William's death as a result of wounds received in battle. Thanks, WDM

Thomas Jefferson (Fox) Marchman was my Great Grandaddy He was from Siloam, GA and enlisted at Sparta, GA. He was wounded in the leg or ankle at Cold Harbor. He surrendered at with General Lee at Appomattox Court House in Virginia.

John A. Simmons was my gg uncle. Any info on Company I would be appreciated. He was born in Sparta, Hancock County, about 1836. He had two brothers, William H. and Charles E. who served in the 15th Ga.

In an affidavit dated 24-Jun-1908, three witnesses attest that Mary Sizemore is the widow of Wiley Sizemore who died on 18-Feb-1908. Her widow's affidavit dated 10-May-1908 and application dated 13-Mar-1908 confirms the same date of death for Wiley. Wiley Sizemore applied for the Indigent Soldier's Pension each year from 1897 through 1907. Death date and place unknown for Mary.
