Am looking for information on an Allen R. or P. Rasberry who kept a ledger at the Bibb County Iron Company/Briarfield Rolling Mill during 1864. The first page in this ledger, now housed at the University of Alabama archives, notes ''This book belongs to Sergt. A. P. or R. Rasberry, Co. E. 64th Georgia Regt.''

Lived west of Bainbridge Georgia when he joined. Died in prison camp in Elmira, NY. Family moved to Florida 1874.

Survived the war. Died Sep 16, 1910. My Great-Uncle.

Died in a POW camp in Chicago, Illinois.

This is my 2nd great grandfather, my Mother's Lewis Family. He was born in 1822. He was killed on the battle field and buried in Richmond VA in 1864

GA 64th Infantry He was Surrendered on 4/9/1865 at Appomattox Court House, VA He was listed as: * Wounded 2/20/1864 Ocean Pond, FL.................................CONFEDERATE GEORGIA TROOPS 64th Regiment, Georgia Infantry OVERVIEW: 64th Infantry Regiment was organized during the spring of 1863 and soon moved to Florida. Some of its members were recruited in Johnson and Warren counties. It fought at Olustee under General G.P. Harrison, then in May, 1864, was ordered to Virginia with about 400 officers and men. The unit proceeded to Petersburg and reported to General Wise for service as provost guards. Later it was assigned to General A.R. Wright's and Sorrell's Brigade and shared in the battles, skirmishes, and hardships of the Petersburg siege and the Appomattox operations. When the regiment surrendered on April 9, 1865, only 9 officers and 93 men were present. The field officers were Colonels James Barrow and Charles S. Jenkins, and Major George S. Thomas. ........................................................ OLUSTEE, FL (Ocean Pond) FEB. 20th, 1864 Olustee, Fla., Feb. 20 1864. Florida Expedition. About 3 p m. the advance of the expedition, Col. Guy V. Henry's brigade of cavalry, came upon the Confederate pickets somewhat to the east of Olustee. They were soon driven back to their supports, which opened fire, when a portion of the 7th Conn. cavalry was deployed as skirmishers and a battery placed in position to develop the Confederate force and position. It was the intention of Brig.-Gen. Truman Seymour, commanding, to engage the enemy in front with artillery, meanwhile throwing out a brigade to fall upon the Confederate left. The disposition was accordingly made, the cavalry skirmishers called in and the 7th N. H. deployed in their places, but the troops were hardly in position before the New Hampshire regiment broke and fled in confusion. The 8th U. S. colored infantry moving into the same position, also broke and fled after its colonel had been killed. The 54th Mass. colored infantry, then occupied the position and the fighting continued sharp until dark, the whole Federal force except the cavalry being actively engaged. After dark Seymour withdrew, abandoning 6 pieces of artillery. His losses were 1,800 in killed, wounded and missing, and 39 horses. The Confederate casualties were about 250 killed and wounded. Fought at the Battle of Olustee, Florida on February 20, 1864. Died at Battle of the Crater at Petersburg, VA on July 30, 1864, at age 19.

Lived at Big Shanty where he worked for the railroad. After the war moved to near Steele Alabama. Died and is buried at Durant Oklahoma.

Porter died in hospital in Richmond Va. either Oct.2, 1864 according to CSA muster rolls or Sept. 6, 1864 according to Jackson Hospital records. He was wounded in the right leg and later died of the wound while in Union custody I think. He is buried in Hollywood Cemetary in Richmond Va. His grave is only marked as Graddick and gives his unit no.

John Outlaw was my great-great-grandfather. I have little history on his military career other than what other relatives have discovered. He was wounded at Petersburg -- recovered and rejoined his unit. He contracted pneumonia in March 1865, and was captured by the Federals at Jackson Hospital in Richmond, April 1865. Family research indicate he was awarded the The Confederate Cross of Honor but the Daughters of the Confederacy do not have records of such an award. I am pretty sure he received the award because I have a picture -- date unknown but sometime after the war -- w/ his wife and he is wearing the medal.

Isaac was at the battles of Olustee Fla.,the Crater, the Battle of 2nd Deep Bottom, Va. where he was captured. He was a POW at Point Lookout, Md. He died of disease on October 24, 1864. He is buried at Hollywood cemetery, Richmond, Va. He was 35 years old with a family. He left behind his widow and 6 children.

Died of 'pluritis' at General Hospital No. 1, Savannah, GA, March 4, 1864. He was 37.

Zemri V. Thomason was killed on 4 March 1864 in Savannah, GA. He was only 22 years old.
