WAS CAPTURED AS POW AT CAMP FORD TYLER TX. WROTE MOTHER [HE WOULD GLADLY DRANK FROM HIS MOTHERS SLOP BUCKET ] , FOR HE WAS SO HUNGARY, GOT ONLY A FEW GRAINS OF CORN A DAY. HAVE A PIC OF HIM AND WIFE.

My GG Grandfather James Kincaid was captured and imprisoned at Camp Ford in Tyler, Tex. That and his regiment info from his tombstone is all I know. I would welcome any additional information that anyone may have.

Simpson S. Scott served as a private in the Forty-Third Regiment, company B, of Indiana Volunteers. The Forty-Third Infantry's company muster roll shows Simpson enlisted in the army on 16 September 1861 at Terre Haute, Indiana for a period of three years. He is listed as being 18 years of age. He re-enlisted 1 February 1864 at Little Rock, Arkansas. Simpson was discharged two months after his re-enlistment in 1864 due to death caused from wounds received while engaged with the enemy at Marks' Mills, Arkansas, April 25, 1864. Simpson is buried at the National Cemetery at Little Rock, Arkansas. The entry reads: Died 4/28/1864 43 Ind Inf, Original burial at Marks Mills, Arkansas Plot 2481. His name in this record is incorrectly stated as Scott, S.L.

During the American Civil War, Harrison 'General' served in the 43rd Indiana Infantry Regiment, a Union regiment organized in Indiana in 1861. This unit saw action in the western theater, including operations in Arkansas and Mississippi. He returned home to live a long life. Harrison died on February 3, 1907, in Brownstown Township, Jackson County, Indiana, at the age of 68. He was buried in Proctor Cemetery, near Fort Ritner, Lawrence County, Indiana.

Joesph A. Kearns, b.11 Apr 1843, Eaton, Preble County, Ohio d. 25 Mar 1865, Eaton, Preble County, Ohio. Buried Antioch Cemetery, Eaton, Preble County, Ohio. Was living in Kahoka, Clark County, Missouri with many other family members. Enlisted 3 Sep 1861 in Co E, 43rd Regiment Indiana Infantry. Captured April 1864 and sent to Camp Ford, Tyler, Texas for 10 months. After being release returned to Eaton, Preble County, Ohio and there died of pneumonia. Joseph was unmarried.

James is my Great great Grandfather. Enlisted in Sullivan County Indiana. 43rd Ind Vol. His Son In-law was Capt Willis also in the 43rd.

Found gravemarker in Branson Cemetery, Pottawattamie County, Iowa. He died sometime after 1920. No dates on memorial.

Joseph was pastor. Killed at Marks Mills Ark.

Lemuel McBride, brother to my great, great grandfather, George Henry McBride, served with Co. F, 43rd Regiment and Co. C, 97th Indiana Infantry. Lemual was born 4 Jan 1844 in Greene county, Indiana. He died 25 Jan 1930 at Portland, Oregon. Anyone who has info on Lemuel, I would appreciate if you would like to pass on to me.

Joshua Marion Griffith used the name Griffy on his records?? I have the service card certified by Indiana State Arcives. He enrolled Dec. 13, 1861 at Ashboro capt, Moss and Mustered out Dec. 14, 1864 at Terre Haute, Capt. Norris. Card says he was 18... I have a list of others in this unit in case anyone needs a look up.

This man is not my ancestor. I am a trustee of Mt Olivet Cemetery, Florida Twp, Parke Co IN, where he is buried. He married Rebecca Keltner Oct 16 1886 in Parke County. Dates of b/d unknown.

Enlisted as a private 10-17-1861 and mustered out a corporal 6-14-1864 at Indianapolis, IN. His unit organized in Terre Haute, IN, was later transferred to Missouri, where it was attached to Gen. Pope`s army and participated in the siege of New Madrid and Island 10 in MO. Caleb participated in the Battle of Helena, AR, the capture of Little Rock, and Elkins` and Jenkins` ferries, Marks` Mills and Camden, AR.
