Joseph S. Burt, enlisted 18 Jul 1863. Promoted to full 3rd Sergeant on 1 Mar 1864. Captured at the Battle of Brown's Mill, near Newnan, GA. Sent to and survived the rest of the war in Andersonville Prison. Mustered out 31 May 1865.

Enlisted January 26, 1863, Eddyville, IA; age 18 years old, 5'8' height, light complexion, blue eyes, light hair. Born Jefferson County, IA, farmer. Mustered in July 8, 1863; mustered out May 25, 1865 in Nashville, TN. He died January 13, 1888 in Little River, KS. Obituary attributes his death to lung fever as a result of hardships suffered in the Army. He had lost the power of speech for several years before his death.

Taken prisoner July 30th, 1864 at Newnan, Georgia, possibly died in Andersonville prison or shortly thereafter. Buried in Maryland.

French-Canadian by birth, Peter went mostly by the name Peter Morris in the USA but enlisted on 10 Dec. 1864 as Peter M. Quatoo and also appears on muster rolls of Company G as Quittow. Both are efforts by anglophone record-keepers to transcribe his French name (Coitou) as he spoke it.

Cpl Derickson was captured during the raid on Gen McCook to the Macon railroad near Newnan, July 1864. He died as a POW at Andersonville prison camp Feb 15, 1865.
