Daniel LEAMING, b. 2 Nov 1821, Marion Co., IN; d. 1908, Endicott, Whitman, WA. Son of Judah Leaming Jr. and Eunice Griffin. Brother to Union veterans Charles Mac Leaming and Elisha Leaming. Married 1851, Des Moines, IA, to Mary SPEAR, b. 21 Apr 1836, Ashtabula Co.,OH; d. 28 Mar 1896, Endicott, Whitman, WA; dau. of John Speare (1788-1886) and Mary Osborn (1797-1840). Official record Film No. M541 roll 16.

John C. Ritchey was my great-great-great grandfather. He was killed in action at Atchafalaya, LA on Sept. 29, 1863 at the age of 45. He was a farmer in Washington TWP, IA. Any other information on him would be greatly appreciated. Thank you. Lee Ritchey

Lt. William Brooks was wounded while recovering the Colors from the Battlefield at Prairie Grove. Would love to have a photo of him. He was also in the 1st Iowa Regiment Infantry which fought at Wilson's Creek and also the 56th USCT where as Col. Brooks he was killed in the Battle at Wallace's Ferry or Big Creek in Arkansas.

Company was formed in Keokuk with many of the men from Louisa County-company sent to St. Louis, thence Springfield Mo., had a few days of training and then began march down into southern Mo./nw Ark.; Involved in the Battle at Prarie Grove, Ark. where members of the company were KIA or later died of wounds. Small skirmishes thereafter and company was later sent to Vickburg, which had surrendered by the time they arrived. Company then sent down the river south to central La.-Ivory captured at Battle of Fourdoche (Stirling's Plantation), along with a number of other units of Iowans. Was eventually exchanged at Port Hudson. Returned home to Morning Sun to resume his life as farmer.

Thomas was my Great-Great grandfather's oldest brother. I ordered his Civil War records, but only purchased the 'partial'. I discovered he died of disease in southern Missouri. If anyone has a photo of this company, I would love to have a copy.

My great-great grandfather J. Peter Stineman mustered into the army as a Private and mustered out at discharge as a Sergeant. I have a medal given to him at a Reunion in the 1880''s. If anyone has a photo of company the Iowa 19th Infantry Co. G please email me as I''d love to have a copy. thanks

My great-great grandfather J. Peter Stineman of Grandview IA mustered into the army in Keokuk IA as a Private and mustered out in Mobile AL as a Sergeant. I have a medal given to him at a Reunion in the 1880''s. I also have a group photo of the 188? GAR reunion. I also have most of the names of the other veterans in the photo. I had to re-enter this info since I lost my old password and couldn't edit the info.

Great Grandfather Pike was wounded at the battle of Prairie Grove Arkansas. After recovering from his wounds, Henry was discharged from the army and returned home to Iowa. Henry still wanted to fight. After traveling to Davenport Iowa Grandfather pike enlisted in the 1st Iowa Calvary and rode with this unit for the remainder of the war.

My Great-Grandfather carried and played the bass drum in the Civil War.

Benjamin died in battle December 7, 1862 at Prairie Grove, AR.
