My 3rd great grandfather. Known as the 'Greybeard' Regiment. He had four sons and 2 son-in-laws who fought in the Civil War.

This is my gg grandfather, whom was Iowa infantry, but have no other info. about him. Not sure if he was killed or wounded as I have some info that he died in Cordova, Rock Island, IL. thank you , Coreen

Inducted 9/17/1862 age 48. Discharged 2/25/1865 due to disability. Died 3/3/1865. Buried Manchester cemetary, Manchester, Delaware County, Iowa. Also listed as Sageant S. Field. One of five brothers who all died in the war.

Born 1788 in Manlius, New York, at age 74 walked out to pasture with cows and left his wife, 4 children the youngest 2 years old and traveled from Pennsylvania to Iowa and enlisted on September 19, 1862. Served at Rock Island as a guard and died from disease on February 4, 1864. He is buried in Rock Island National Cemetery, Rock Island, Ill.

Enlisted as a Private on 18 October 1862 at the age of 52. Enlisted in Company G, 37th Infantry Regiment Iowa on 11 Nov 1862. Promoted to Full 7th Corporal on 11 Mar 1864. Promoted to Full 4th Corporal on 22 Oct 1864. Promoted to Full 3rd Corporal (Estimated day) on 15 Dec 1864. Mustered Out Company G, 37th Infantry Regiment Iowa on 24 May 1865 at Davenport, IA.

Reece was 48 at the time of his death. he died of smallpox while guarding Confederate prisoners of war at Alton Illinois on September 3,1863
