12th Kentucky Cavalry

My great-great grandfather was Francis 'Frank' Marion Haven. While he was with the 12th Clavary he was held captive at a POW camp in Salisbury, NC for 83 days. He was released as part of a prisoner exchange between the USA and CSA. He was wounded a total of three times during the war including one which he lost his right eye.

My Great Great Grandfather Was Jacob Rice Roberts and had came from Evansville In to Volunteer into the 12th Kentucky Calvary

Q. C. Shanks was the first commanding officer of the 12th Ky Cav. He was my GG Grandmother''s brother-in-law, married to her sister Lucinda Taylor.

5X Great Uncle

My great-grandfather mustered in on 17 Nov 1862. Mustered out on 23 Aug 1865. I do have his entire pension file. He was born Feb.1840 and died in July 1902. Looking for other descendants.

Joseph was enrolled 12/29/1863 in Co. B. but Mustered in on 3/17/1864 Co. K. Enlisted in Paducah, KY. He was taken prisoner almost immmediately in Paducah and sent to Andersonville Prison in GA where he died 6/13/1864 from diarrhea. He was married to Mahala Griffin in Graves Co., KY and they had one child, William Joseph Ledford, born 6/10/1862. Mahala drew a pension on Joseph then when she died the child drew the pension. Joseph was the son of William and Elizabeth Mills Ledford of Trigg Co., KY.

Enlisted 3 Sept 1862 at Caseyville Kentucky. At enlistment was 29 years old, 5 ft. 10 1/2 inches tall, light complexion, hazel eyes. Medical Discharge 15 Dec 1864. Also in Company E
