Abijah B. 'Buzzard Bige' Gabbard is a nephew to Wilson Gabbard and a cousin to Elisha W. Gabbard all of this unit. Abijah's two brothers Michael 'Drunk Mike' and Abel Carter Gabbard served together in CO D, 8th KY INF. Abijah B's headstone reads KY State Militia.

Alexander Strong was the son of Edward C. and Elizabeth (Spencer) Strong. They settled in Breathitt County, Kentucky. Mustered out Company B, Three Forks Batt'n Regiment Kentucky on 17 July 1865 in Irvine, KY Regimental History, Fought on 06 November 1864, fought on 03 January 1865, fought on 15 February 1865, fought on 05 March 1865, fought on 03 April 1865, fought on 24 April 1865 at Breathitt County, KY., fought on 25 April 1865. Alexander Strong was the brother of at least two other Civil War soldiers, John C. Strong and William 'Cap'n Bill' Strong. All of the men fought on the Union side.

Birth: 14 Dec 1825 in Strongville, Breathitt, Kentucky Married: 21 Feb 1853 in Breathitt County, Kentucky Death: 9 May 1897 in Saldee, Breathitt, Kentucky Burial: Strong Cemetery, Whick, Breathitt County, Kentucky Also served as Captain in Company K, 14th Regiment, Kentucky Cavalry. At least two of his brothers also served in the Civil War on the Union side. John C. Strong and Alexander Strong. I am not a direct relative of William. I am a direct relative of his brother, Alexander. Much has been written about Cap't Bill Strong.

This Elisha W. Gabbard, 09 Jul 1848 - 12 Jan 1914 is the son of Wilson & Susan Gabbard, nee Abner. He married Mary Ann Peters, 17 Sep 1851 - 23 Nov 1914. Elisha W. was arrested for the murder of 3 men at Buffalo, KY., during Aug 1913 at a polling place. On the 12th of Jan 1914 he committed suicide before he came to trail. Another Union family member.
