Mustered in: Dec. 10, 1861, Camp Wallace, Louisa, KY Notes: Wounded in action at Tazewell, TN on Aug. 6, 1862; leg amputated Aug. 6, 1862. Mustered out: Discharged on Surgeon's Certificate of Disability near Danville, KY, Dec. 31, 1862.

The story uncovered is that he joined the 14th Kentucky after his father James Ross was killed by local rebels in Carter County,Kentucky.

Wounded in the thigh while battling in Georgia.He was rescued from the field.He traveled in ambulance's for eight days and throught the jointing who kill him.This information came from records of the Ky Division of the United Childern of the Confederacy. Son of John Ramey Wheeler 1st Sgt. with the 68th Kentucky Enrolled (union) Militia.

Born Feb. 23,1835 Died June 4th 1898 buried at Yatesville,Kentucky.

looking for any information on my great-grandfather william C. Whitaker who I think served with his brother Johnson in the 14th Kentucky during the civil war.

Fernandes Hager was my great-grandfather,(Ollena Hager his daughter was my father's mother).Born in Logan County VA (now Lincoln County WV) in 1844. He was a musician for the 14th Kentucky Infantry from 10 December 1861 till 30 January 1865. He died 1941 and is buried at the Bolt Cemetary in Lincoln County, WV.

A great, great, grandfather listed as a private in the Kentucky 14th Infantry, Company H. Also, listed as wounded and survived. I found nothing else except the spelling was Mainard instead of Maynard.
