Joseph B. McGill was wounded at the Battle of Richmond, Kentucky, 30 August, 1862. He was captured and released the next day. He died at home at Flour Creek, Pendleton Co., Kentucky, 2 December 1863.

Charles Thomas Fornash was mustered in to the 18th KY and served along side his father-in-law, Pvt. James Brooking McMillen. Charles had a bad reputation for being a 'hellraiser' and after one of the battles in the Tullahoma campaign, he was hospitalized for a very bad bacterial infection in his eyes and ears. Not being satisfied with the treatment from the military doctors, he headed home to look for help. He was captured in Ohio and sent to Camp Chase in Columbus to await court-martial. Instead of being court-martialed, he was sentenced to serve 9 months on ball and chain in the Nashville Prison. After his time was up, he was reinstated at half pay and transferred to the 21st Regiment Kentucky veteran Volunteer Infantry. He served the balance of his time with the 21st from Georgia through Alabama and Mississippi and eventually to Texas where he was discharged in 1865 with a year's half wages and fair back to Kentucky. After the war, he was so wrecked from the disease that had caused his incarceration that, the military review board eventually esponged his courtmartial and awarded him a small disability stipend. He lived out his live on the Ohio River, eeking out an existance while living in a shanty flatboat outside Cincinnati.

Henry Frakes was wounded at the Battle of Richmond Kentucky. He received a gun shot wound to the left shoulder. The lead ball remained in his shoulder until his death in 1918.

Born in 1840 in Pendleton County, Kentucky. Son of Henry Lindsay Johns and Elizabeth Shively.
Served in the 18th Kentucky Volunteer Infantry from 1861 until his resignation in 1863.
In late 1863, he became Captain of Company F, 40th Kentucky Mounted Infantry.
After the war he married, had children and lived at Knoxville, Pendleton County, Kentucky. He died in 1885 and is buried in the Johns family cemetery in Pendleton County.

According to census records, Brooker was at least 63-64 years of age when he enlisted. He was discharged after 15 months service for inability to perform his duties in the field. Apparently, he lied about his age when mustering in.
