David T. Robinson/Robison was the son of Samuel Robinson and Elizabeth Evans. He was born in Marion County, AL. His father died in Mississippi abt. 1848. After his mother's death abt. 1865 in Louisiana, he moved to Texas. He was a doctor and he died in Waco, TX.

John joined at Camp Moore on 13 August in [1st] Co. F. 12th Regt. La. Infantry. This unit became Co A 12th lousiana Infantry. He was sick his entire time in service, so much so he was ordered home on sick furlogh by Lt. Gen. Pemberton. He returned to his company and was re elected to Capt. Once again he had to be hospitalized and eventually resigned his rank on 14 Oct. 1864 by S.O. 244. He was assigned to the Third Brigade, Loring's Division. He died 2 June 1929 and is buried in Old Pleasant Hill, DeSota Parish La.

He entered the service Nov 26, 1861 in Columbus, KY but went back to Sabine Parish, LA after the war.

Daniel E. Williams and Benjamin Hill Williams were brothers. Benjamin contracted erysipelas at Fort Pillow in 1862. Daniel was badly wounded at Baker's Creek (Champion's Hill) in 1863. Both men wound up in the hospital at Meridian, MS, where they both made their home after the war. Daniel was my great-great-grandfather.

Jasper was born in Aug 1838 in Butler Co. Alabama. He married my distant cousin 4 x removed in 1861. He has 16 cards in his archival file. He enlisted at Coushatta, Louisiana 1 Mar 1862 for one year, enlisted by Lieut. J.N. Atkins. He was taken as POW at Jackson, Mississippi on 11 Jul 1863 and sent to Gration Prison at St. Louis, Missouri and on to Camp Morton, Indianapolis, Indiana where he died 27 Feb 1864 of chronic diarrhea. He is buried in Green Lawn Cem. grave # 791.

John was born 1 Dec 1843. The 1860 census has him at age 16 living in Natchitoches, La. He enlisted with his brother Jasper on 1 March 1862 at Coushatta, Red River Partish. La. Enlisted by Lieut. J.N. Atkins for one year. He has 11 cards in his archival file. He fought at Fort Pillow Corinth, Bakers Creek in the Vicksburg Campaign. He was captured and paroled at Vicksburg. He fought with his regiment thru the Atlanta and Carolina Campaigns. His regiment was paroled at Greensboro, NC. His records do not mention and injuries or disease. He married Sarah Elizabeth Hubbard. He died 10 Apr 1912 in Coushatta, Red River Parish, La and is buried in the Thomas - Wren Cem. in that town.

Samuel Sentinel Hudson voluntarily enrolled as a private in Company B of the 12th Louisiana Infantry – Confederate States of America , nicknamed the “Arcadia Invincibles” on August 13, 1861 in Camp Moore, Louisiana (north of the Village of Tangipahoa near Kentwood, Louisiana). On 10 May 1862, he was appointed Corporal, and was wounded in the Second Battle of Corinth on 3 October 1862 and sent to the Confederate hospital in Oxford, Mississippi. He was again wounded on 5 December 1862 at the Battle of Coffeeville in Coffeeville, Mississippi and sent to Oxford hospital, and had his rank reduced to private. Hudson appears Absent Without Leave on the muster rolls for July – October 1863, and reappears on the rolls by November 1863. His military service ended with the surrender of the Confederate Forces on April 26, 1865.

Data from: http://files.usgwarchives.org/la/bienville/bios/perrittm.txt MADISON PERITT Madison Perritt, cotton planter, miller and ginner, was formerly a well known and respected resident of Claiborne Parish, but he is now a permanent resident of Bienville Parish, La, and one of its best citizens. He was born in Alabama on February 18, 1838, and his educational facilities were the common schools where he received a practical education, which he afterward improved by his own observation and study. He started out for himself when he donned his suit of gray and shouldered his musket, enlisting in company B, Twelfth Louisiana Infantry Volunteers, Scott's brigade, Loring's division, Stuart's corps, Army of Tennessee. Mr. Perritt enlisted in the spring of 1862, and was sent at once to Grenada, Miss. He took an active part in the following engagements: Second battle of Corinth, siege of Port Hudson (two weeks) Resaca, Dalton, Kenesaw Mountain, and all around the city of Atlanta, Ga. He was in heavy fighting for about three months, and can relate many interesting anecdotes which occurred while he served the confederacy. His trials and vicissitudes during this war were very terrible indeed. Time and time again has he made long weary marches when his bare feet were on the ground and left the prints in blood. When he finished the terrible Georgia campaign his regiment was ordered into Tennessee, and the first incident of note was the capture of 300 'Yanks,' at Ackmoth and l50 more at Tilden. Mr. Perritt relates many amusing incidents which occurred at the battle of Nashville. It being his first introduction to that city, and relates them in such an interesting way that it is a great treat to listen to him. From Nashville they were ordered back to North Carolina, and the last engagement he participated in was at Bentonville, of that state. Mr. Perritt has experienced the terrible ordeal of war in all its phases. When in Mississippi he was fifer of his regiment, and still has his old army fife. His regiment was disbanded at Greensboro, N. C., on April 26, 1865, and when the news reached him of the surrender ho was under detail as assistant surgeon.

George enllisted at Camp Moore, Louisiana 13 August 1861 in Capt. Benajah D Owen's Co. 12th La. Infantry. His brother in Law Flavious J Matthews enlisted with him. George is in the hospital at Bolivo, Tenn on 25 Oct. 1861. On 11 July 1863 he is captured in action at Jackson, Miss. He is sent to several POW camps on his way to Camp Morton, Indianapolis, Indiana. He died of chronic diarrhoea on 6 May 1864. He is buried there at Green Lawn Cem. and moved to Crown Hill Cem. Indianapolis, Marion Co Indiana. grave # 884 Deo Vindice

Gabriel was 19 years old when he enlisted at Camp Moore, Louisiana on 18 Aug 1861. Captain John A Dixon's Co. Southern Sentinels] 5 May 1862 he is paid $10.00 for building a coffin for a fallen soldier. That same month May 1862 he is elected to Sergeant. He is captured and paroled at Vicksburg on 4 July 1863. This unit became Co C [new] 12th Regiment Louisiana Infantry.

Flavious was born in 1837 in Stewart Tenn. He was 24 when he enlisted at Camp Moore La. on 13 August 1861 by Capt. Benajah D Owens. He was captured and paroled at Vicksburg. He served the entire war and died 16 Nov 1876 in Brinkley, Calloway Co. Ky. He was the husband of Sarah Byrd a distant cousin of mine.

Henry was 16 years old, Born in Alabama. He enlisted 17 Mar 1862 and was a Private [ Musician ] in Capt J. H. Stevens Co. On 16 May 1863 he is wounded and captured at Bakers Creek near Raymond Miss. aka [ Champion Hill ]. 29 Sept 1863 he is sick in hospital at Morton Miss when he was left behind by surgeons certificate. on 10 Nov 1863 he is assigned [ attached ] as Provost Guard. He went to Texas and died at age 27 from complication of his war wounds. he was the husband of my 6th cousin 3 x removed.

I have recently learned that my great-great-grandfather was a soldier in Co. F, 12th Louisiana Infantry. He lived in Bienville Parish, LA.

Thornton was born 21 Sept 1821 in Virginia. His family migrated to Georgia and then to Louisiana. He married Orry Glaze in Georgia. He has 30 cards and documents in his archival file. He was about 41 when he enlisted 4 March 1862 from Clairborne Parish, Louisiana, enlisted by Thomas A Glass for 3 years in 2nd Co. G. He is sick in the hospital at Atlanta, Ga. on 4 July 1864. His is assigned to Scott's Brigade, Loring's Division, Stewart's Corps. He was wounded in left thigh by a Conical ball [ flesh wound] at the battle of Franklin. He is captured 23 Dec 1864 at Columbia Tenn and sent to Louisville Ky. On 21 Jan 1865 he is in a Union Hosp being treated for the wound. He is then sent to Fort Delaware in Delaware where he is released 10 June 1865 after swallowing the yellow dog. He is described as having dark complexion, hazel eyes, and 5ft 8 inches tall. He died 7 April 1891 in Homer, Clairborne Parish, La. We are related by marriage

He was married to Jenette Asby on 22 March 1860 in Claiborne Parish, Louisiana. He died in 1901 in Polk County, Arkansas and is buried in the Foote Cemetery, Polk County Arkansas. John enlisted in the Confederate Army at Homer, Louisiana in March 1862 with his brother Samuel Thomas. His younger brother Adam Capers had enlisted in the 12th Louisiana Infantry, Company L in June 1861. Elijah was born in Georgia. He was 30 years old when he enlisted at Monroe Louisiana on 13 May 1862. Enlisting in [2nd] Co H. 12 Louisiana Infantry. He died at Vicksburg during the bombardment of 19 May - 4 July 1863. He is buried in an unmarked grave at Cedar Hill Cem. in that city, located in Warren Co. Miss. He is related to me by marriage. Born in Oct 1836 in South Carolina. Enlisted as a 1st Sergeant, Company I, 12th Louisiana Infantry Regiment in Aug 1861. Promoted to 2nd Lt. in April 1863. Promoted to 1st Lt. sometime between April 1864 and Jan 1865. Surrendered and paroled in North Carolina, April 1865. Died in Lincoln Co., Georgia in Sept 1902.

Wyley Futrell was my great, great uncle. He was parolled at Greensboro, NC on April 26, 1865.

Enlisted on 13 Aug 1861 Camp Moore, LA.

Benjamin was born 2 April 1842 in Butler County, Alabama. In 1860 he is 19 years old and in Louisiana. He has 17 Cards in his archival file. He enlisted at Camp Moore. Co. His company had the name of [Farmer Guards] In Sept 1863 his pay is docked for $5.25 cents for Ordinance cost. He must have lost his bullets. 14 July 1864 his is sick and was sent to the hospital. This regiment say extensive combat in many major battles. There is a report on his service record as someone filed the initial paperwork for a pension. He was paroled on 15 June 1865 at Montgomery, Alabama. We are related by marriage.

Died of gangrene in Cumberland General Hospital on 22 Dec 1864 from gunshot wound to upper left thigh which fractured his femur. Buried in Mount Olivet Cemetery in Nashville, Tennessee.

David Matt Haynes was my Gr.Gr. Grandfather. He lived in Shongaloo, Louisiana and was a preacher later in life. He died in 1915 and is buried in they Haynes family cemetery in Shongaloo, LA. His unit was called the Claiborne Rangers. They left out of Homer, LA. in 1861 and what few were left returned in 1865 after the war was over.

Am trying to trace Claiborne Rangers movement in the war and need to find Henry's parents who were born in N.C.

Samuel Patton enlisted in 1861, with the 12th Louisiana Infantry, company L. Now it is my duty to presreve his legacy, as an member of the Sons of Confederate Veterans# 1896.

Would like any information on Alexander, some of the records show that he was killed in action and others show that he could have been missing in action

My great, great grandfather, probably died at the battle of Island No. 10/New Madrid.

He fought in several battles under Cptn. McGranie, then was captured. He was taken up to Pt. Lookout in Maryland, where he stayed until the end of the war.

My great grand father enrolled at Camp Moore, Louisiana as a Private in Captain Benajah D. Owen's 'Farmer Rangers' recruited in Natchitoches Parish. By the summer of 1862, this company had dwindled in size and was consolidated with the 'Southern Sentinels' from Winn Parish into a new Company C. Present and accounted for through April 1863, he was part of a detail under Captain John A. Dixon (Company C) which was sent back to Vicksburg to escort ordnance supplies out to the regiment camped near Edward's Depot. With the defeat of the Confederate army at Champion Hill on 16 MAY 1863, these detail men were cut off from the regiment and trapped inside Vicksburg during the siege. They were surrendered with the garrison on 4 JUL 1863. The name that appears on his Vicksburg parole certificate is 'H. C. Tanner' and that is how he signed the certificate. The able bodied Vicksburg parolees were released on 10 JUL 1863 and most made their way across the Mississippi River to Louisiana and went home to await a declaration of exchange which would permit them to return to duty. Captain Dixon sent out word in early 1864 for the members of his detachment of Vicksburg parolees to report into parole camp at Vienna, Louisiana to be ready for exchange. A list of all who had reported before 1 APR 1864 was sent to the War Department in Richmond. Henry C. TANNER's name was on this list. These men were eventually declared exchanged and returned to duty at the end of the summer of 1864. He reported into the Federal parole center at Monroe, Louisiana and was released on parole 9 JUN 1865. He gave his place of residence at the time as Ouachita Parish, Louisiana.
