7th Maine Infantry

He was a doctor in Maine before the War and then he was doing surgery on the wounded at Gettysburg.

In 1862 he enlisted in the Seventh Maine Regiment Volunteer Infantry, and served until the end of the war. He was a musician and played in the regimental band. After the Battle of the Wilderness he carried a rifle and took part in every engagement of his regiment. He was in the campaign in the Shenandoah Valley, in the battle of Winchester, at the siege of Petersburg, at Fredericksburg and Appomattox. He was mustered out in Portland, Maine, in 1865.

This was my Great Grandfather. He served first in Co. A, then was transferred to Co. K in 1862

Mustered in as a Private. Made rank of Serg. Major. Killed Sept. 17th 1862 at the Battle of Antietam at the age of 25 years. Shares Parson family headstone with brother: Joseph L. From Caribou, ME. Enlisted in the Union Army on 18 June 1861. Mustered-In for 3 years service as Pvt in Co. A & D - 7th Maine Infantry on 21 August 1861. Died: 14 September 1863. Burial: Lyndon, Aroostook, ME. Lot #16 - upright Govt. GAR marker.

Zebulon is my GG Grandfather He was in the Civil War Company F 7th Regiment, Maine Infantry

He died at Camp Griffin at sundown on Feb 26, 1862. Don't know how, probably sickness.

Stephen C. Fletcher joined the 7th in 1862 after forming F company. He was with the 7th throughout the war and mustered out as a colonel. Col Fletcher was my great great grandfather. Contact me!

He reenlisted (having previously served in the 11th Maine Infantry) for three years at Augusta, Maine as a private in Company I, 7th Maine Infantry on June 22, 1864. Because the 7th Maine Infantry had lost so many men due to battles and disease, it was consolidated with men from the 5th Maine Infantry and 6th Maine Infantry whose enlistments had not yet expired. The new regiment was designated the 1st Maine Veteran Infantry Regiment. Frank was transferred to Company I on August 21, 1864. He mustered out with the regiment in Washington, D.C. on June 28, 1865.
