2nd Michigan Cavalry

Born Ohio 1840, orphaned 1850 and went to Indiana to live with eldest (half?) brother. Father David fought in War of 1812, paternal grandfather (also David) fought in Revolutionary War. Served the entire war except for 2 months when invalided due to illness. Died in Indiana 1921.

Elmer Spencer is listed on the Roll of Honor Volume XXI Mississippi River National Cemetery Michigan Soldier 1141. However, I have not been able to find his gravesite. He died in New Madrid, Missouri in 1862.
