Died Oct 5, 1864 at the age of 30. Probably died of disease. Father was Samuel Potter, Jr and mother was Elizabeth Wood. He resided in Weesaw, MI prior to his enlistment.

Enlisted in Company E, Michigan 6th Infantry Regiment on 19 Jan 1864. Mustered out on 08 Jun 1865 at Fort Gaines, AL.

Enlisted as a Private on 17 August 1861 at the age of 23. Mustered in Company F, 6th Infantry Regiment Michigan on 20 August 1861. Received a disability discharge on 30 June 1862 at Baton Rouge, LA.

James Grimes was a drummer. His cap and drum were donated to the Fort St. Joseph Museum in Niles, Michigan.

Caleb enlisted on August 5th, 1861. He died of disease on nov 10th, 1861 at Baltimore, Maryland. He had a brother also in this regiment, Hiram Prouty.

Hiram Prouty enlisted on August 10th, 1861. He died of disease on September 23rd, 1863 at Memphis, Tenn. He had a brother also in this regiment, Caleb A. Prouty.

Enlisted as a Musician on 20 August 1861 at the age of 21. Mustered in Company Band, 6th Infantry Regiment Michigan on 20 August 1861. Mustered out on 20 September 1862 at New Orleans, LA.
