Enlisted as a Private on 9 August 1864 at the age of 44. Enlisted in Company A, 29th Infantry Regiment Michigan on 17 Aug 1864. Received a disability discharge from Company A, 29th Infantry Regiment Michigan on 17 Aug 1865 at Murfreesboro, TN.

Charles W. Kittridge was my great grandfather. My maternal grandmother's father. Born 11SEP1849 Died 23NOV1931 Served from 27AUG1864 to 6SEP1865. Buried Fremont Cemetery, Bancroft, MI. Lost one eye in battle near railroad cars (info from my now deceased uncle, Kittridge's grandson who often talked to Kittridge as a child). Bullet hit car, wood splinter hit his eye.

Enlisted as a Corporal on 15 August 1864 at the age of 24. Mustered in Company H, 29th Infantry Regiment Michigan on 17 August 1864. Discharged on 25 May 1865 at Tullahoma, TN.

Carl Ekholm is listed as 'Carl Eskholm.' He immigrated with Carl Hogberg (also company I) from Stockholm, Sweden and jumped ship to join the Union Army. They enlisted together and both were sent to fight on the front line, neither speaking english. He was captured by the South in Tennessee but managed to escape and sleep in a 'dog tent' (his words for pup tent) until he found his unit again. He was a big man (over 6') and didn't fit in the tent and suffered frost bite which caused him to be on disability later in life—thus I found an extensive military pension record. In 1867 he changed his name to Gus Redding and lived in Omaha, Nebraska where he was city manager and served on the city council. He is my father's grandfather and was born in 1839.

James Shaw was my great-grandfather. He joined up in Captain Woodruff's Company on Aug. 14, 1861 at Marseilles Illinois. His assignment was musician in the regimental band. Due to ill health he was discharged October 1862 but signed up again in 29th Michigan Infantry in 1864. After the war he moved to California and then to Australia with his wife and children. He was born in Portsoy, Banffshire, Scotland, June 22 1834 and died Dec. 29, 1915 at the age of 82. Died Dec. 29, 1915 at the age of 82. Buried at Waverley Cemetery, Sydney NSW. Australia
