These two(2) soldiers are my GGUncles and the sons of my GGgrandparents Barnett Hardy and Winifred Reeves Hardy. (Served in two units) Hardy, Robert C. (b. FEB 12, 1840, d. NOV 13, 1863) Private, Company A ('Walker Reserves'), 1st Regt., MS Inf. (Johnston's) Hardy, Robert Private, Company G ('Confederate Guards'), 17th Regt., MS Inf. He enlisted at Holly Springs, he was from Byhalia, Marshall Co., MS, and he died 13 November 1863. His brother, was George M. Hardy who served in two (2) different units: Private, (2nd) Company I, 10th Regt., MS Inf. Sergeant, Company A ('Walker Reserves'), 1st Regt., MS Inf. (Johnston's)

Alfred W. Sandlin is my great,great grandfather.

My GGGrandfather. b. 12/02/1814 d. 3/11/1886 Enlisted as a Sergeant, promoted to 2nd Lt. then 1st Lt. Co. B,(Copiah Guards) 1st Miss INF, CSA, Buried at Damascus cemetary, Hazlehurst, Copiah County, Mississippi. Ref. MS Dept of Archives and History, Listed in the Book ''For Dixie Land I''ll take my Stand''(H. Grady Howell) as both A.J Tillman and Andrew Jackson Tillman. Shown in U.S. Records of Confederate Soldiers and Sailors only as A.J. Tillman 2nd Lt.

Thomas J. Jaudon, b. March 8,1949 DeSoto County, MS enlisted in the First Regiment MS Light Artillery on August 27,1864. He was discharged on April 26,1865. He was listed as an 'inmate'(soldier) at Beauvoir Soldier's Home, as a widower from March 24,1916 until his death at Beauvoir on Feb 20,1927. He was buried on Feb 21,1927 in Section B, Row 4, Grave #158 under the name of Thomas J. Jordan. (resources are Beauvoir Soldier's Home Records, and MS Confederacy Grave Records). Any person doing research, which includes any JAUDON (Joudon, Judon) please feel free to contact me.

Enlisted August 27, 1861. Killed in action in Battle of Fort Donelson, TN 15 February 1862.

Captured June 27, 1863, Jumpertown, MS Received at Alton, Illinois Prison July 12, 1863 Escaped Jan 20, 1864 (not very legible)

John was born 18 July 1820 in Holly Springs, Guilford Co. NC. He has 9 cards in his archival file. He enlisted 1 May 1861 in Capt. Pruit's Co. He was captured 8 Aug 1863 near Guntown in Tishomingo Co. Miss. while on a scouting mission. He was sent to Alton, Illinois and later moved to Camp Delaware where he was released after swallowing the yellow dog. He was very sick and while he made it home, he died within the week of pneumonia. He died in 1865. He is buried at the Old Coralville Cem. at Frankstown, Prentiss County, Miss. He was the maternal grandfather of the wife of my 1st cousin 3 x removed.

Mustered into 5th Mississippi Infantry, Company D. Can find very little info on him. Was on detached service with General Bragg during 1863, last reported at Blackie Hospital, Madison GA. Correct spelling of last name is Steele, though military documents usually show Steel. If anyone runs across his name during research, would love to have any info available.

Buried at Old Eaves Cemetery outside of Louisville, MS in Winston County. This is my GGG-Grandfather. Father of William Jackson Eaves who was KIA at Battle of Corinth, MS at age 17.

Enlisted 10 October 1862 at Hopkinsville, KY. Went to Port Hudson, LA and was severely wounded in the shoulder and captured 9 July 1863. He was paroled in hospital and rejoined his regiment, though disabled. Detailed for hospital duty. Report of the Medical Board, 8 June 1864, states: 'Gunshot wound fracturing right clavicle, disabling his right shoulder. The apex of right lung affected. . .' Disability was declared permanent.

Joined 'Patton's Army of 10,000' 1 Dec 1861 at 42 years of age; Shifted to 37th Mississippi Co. C 'Clarke Co. Rescuers' 13 Mar 1862 as Sargent. In hospital while company involved in Iuka and Corinth 8 Sep to 13 Oct 1862. Wounded in trenches slightly at Vicksburg, Snyder's Bluff and paroled 3 July, 1863. AWOL during time at parole camp in Enterprise, MS until Dec 1863 when 37th is reconstituted at Demopolis, AL. Appears on an undated list of men from the Vicksburg capture who have reported since 1 Apr 1864 tp parole camp in Demopolis, AL. Appears on a receipt roll for clothing at May Hospital in Augusta, GA dated 17 Oct 1864. Appears on PoW roll as a Private captured by Major General Thomas in Battle of Nashville 15 Dec 1864, transferred to Military Prison in Louisville, KY 20 Dec 1864 and transferred to Camp Douglas in Chicago IL 22 Dec 1864 where he dies 22 Jan 1865 of diarrhea. Originally buried grave number 556 Block 2 City Cemetery in Chicago, IL and reburied Oakwood Cemetery dedicated on 30 May 1895. A bronze plaque contains his name and rank as a Sargent once again.

Thomas Branson Grimes Is my GGGrandfather. He was Born in Alabama in 1836 And moved to Texas in 1890 where in died Abt. 1916

Adam was Richards brother, they both joined March 1862 enrolled by Col. Falkner in Ripley Mississippi..Adam died in 1863 in Petersburg Va? He was also in the 2nd Regimant Co. L
