Enlisted 27 February 1861 in (old) Co. G and mustered into service 27 March 1861. Re-enlisted in (new) Co. A. Wounded 22 July 1864 near Atlanta, GA. NFI.

Member of Corinth Rifles for 1 year. Reinlisted into 9th Mississippi (New) Company A

Served in 'new' Co. A. Enlisted originally 27 March 1861. Re-enlisted 24 February 1862. He is shown absent sick beginning 24 August 1862 then absent in hospital since 16 January 1863. He is listed as present once again beginning with the March - April 1863 muster roll until he was wounded on 10 July 1864 near Atlanta, GA, and sent to hospital. He never returned to his unit.

Served in 'old' Co. G, 'new' Co. A. Enlisted 27 March 1861 under Captain (later Gen.) James R. Chalmers. Reenlisted 5 May 1862. Wounded slightly through the arm and hospitalized 31 December 1862 in the first charge at Murfreesboro, TN. Returned to his company between April and July 1863. He was present thereafter until mortally wounded 23 June 1864 near Atlanta, GA and died from wound on 27 June at Academy Hospital, Camp Marietta, GA.

He enlisted 03-08-1862 was disch. 04-26-1865. Is buried in the Ball cemetery, george county ms.

The muster roles show he enlisted August 20, 1862 Co C, 9th Mississippi Infantry Pvt Present Jan and Feb, March and April ,Nov 1864 and Dec, Jan and Feb 1865, Sick in Foard Hospital Chattanooga, Tn March and April 1863, July and Aug 1863. Noted on July and Aug 1863 muster roll to have been sick since April 21, 1863. Also Sick and sent to Hospital 3/14/ 1864 and listed May- Aug 31, 1864 as sick Surrendered May 16, 1865 Post at La Grange, Tn Served as a nurse May ,June, July 1863

Lewis cass Hughes joined the forest gaurds out scott county mississippi. I found it very hard to track his movement other than Luka ms. Found his regiment leaving for gettysburg in news paper. Col. Russell must have been replaced and Lewis joined another outfit. I think it ended his service at the surrender north carolina. He is at a cemetery in Texas called Berry Creek by georgetown tx b alabama 1843 d berry creek 1898.

Served in (Old) Co. I, 9th Mississippi Infantry as a musician in the regimental band. Enlisted 25 April 1861. He was discharged in 20 December 1861 "by reason of reenlistment" by Order of General Bragg. (Final Statement given by transfer to Col Chalmers new Regimen.) Served in (New) Co. K, 9th Mississippi Infantry beginning 20 December 1861 in Pensacola, FL. He went to hospital on 25 April 1862 in Holly Springs, MS, and listed as once again present on the July - August 1862 muster roll. He was listed as present until discharged 4 December 1862. Discharge Certificate states: 'Musician of Regimental Band of the Ninth Regiment of Mississippi Vols, born in Spartanburg District in the state of South Carolina, aged 25 years, six feet 8 inches high, dark complexion, black eyes, dark hair and by profession a painter.' Discharged by reason of disability.

George was born 1834 in Madison Alabama and died in 1911 in Saint Landry Parish Louisiana. His home in 1860 was DeSota County, Mississippi. He has 6 cards in his archival file. note in margin of cover CMR: Pvt. Co. B Perrin's Battn: Miss. State Cavalry. Have found no other documentation on this. Enlisted 27 March 1861 at age 26 at Senatobia, in Capt O. F. West's Co 9th Regiment Miss. Vols. This became [old] Co I 9th Regiment Mississippi Infantry. [Senatobia Invincibles] Enlisted by James R Chalmers for 12 months. March 1861 they marched to Pensacola, Florida and encamped near Fort Barrancas, opposite Fort Pickens on Santa Rosa Island held by US Troops. They fought in most major battles until the end of the war. He is the father in law of stepson of 4th cousin 4 x removed

Fought through Tennessee and Kentucky campaigns. Wounded at Atlanta--shot through the jaw and mouth--and invalided out of the service. Said he was never able to eat hardtack again! Attended reunions in later years.

Was placed on detached service as Brigade teamster 15 September 1862 by order of Colonel White. Reported absent sick beginning 23 February 1864 by order of Brigade Surgeon, and back on detached service 10 April 1864. Shown present on extra duty through 29 August 1864. Paroled as a prisoner of war at Memphis, TN, for five days ending 20 May 1865.
