Enlisted in Nash County at age 43 on 11 February 1862. Mustered in as Corporal. Reduced to ranks prior to 01 March 1863. Killed at Gettysburg, Pennsylvania, July 1,1863. Richard was the Uncle of William L Dozier of same company

Leonard enlisted for military service (CSA) in Nash County at age 19 on 04 February 1862. He was assigned to the 47th Regiment,Company A, NC Troops, Confederate States of America as a Private. Leonard was reported present in Jan-Feb 1863, Jan-Apr 1864, and Sep-Oct 1864. Leonard was captured near Petersburg, Virginia on 02 April 1865 and confined at Point Lookout, Maryland, until released on 26 June 1865, after taking the Oath of Allegiance.

Died from wounds received at Battle of Gettysburg on July 6 1863

Lee Pearce, Born in Franklin County where he resided as a farmer prior to enlisting in the Confederate States Army (Company B, North Carolina 47th Infantry Regiment) in Franklin County at age 20, February 27, 1862. Reported present July-August,1863; January-June,1864; and September-October, 1864. Captured at Amelia Court House, Virginia, April 6, 1865. Confined at Point Lookout, Maryland, April 14, 1865. Released at Point Lookout on June 16, 1865, after taking the Oath of Allegiance.

Died 07 Jan 1922 at Zebulon, Wake County, North Carolina. My 3rd cousin 3x removed.

Died 02 Jun 1864 during the Battle of Cold Harbor in Hanover County, Virginia. He is buried in the Hollywood Cemetery in Richmond Virginia. My 3rd cousin 3x removed.

Died 29 Jun 1865 at Hart Island POW Camp in the Bronx, New York. He is buried at Cypress Hills National Cemetery in Brooklyn, New York. My 4th cousin 2x removed.

Died 07 Jan 1901. William R. Privett is buried on Hopkins Chapel Road in Wake County, NC. It is a single grave about 50 yards on the east side of the highway in the woods. Has a Confederate marker on the grave. It is on the south side (about 50 yds) of property owned by Aubrey & Marie Gay at 5500 Hopkins Chapel Rd. Rumor has it that he remarried & his first wife's family would not allow him to be buried in the family (Riley)cementery. My 3rd cousin 3x removed.

Burkley is my 1st cousin. He enlisted on Feb 27, 1862 at Camp Mangum in Wake County, North Carolina. He died Sept 08, 1864 at Camp Winder General Hospital in Richmond, Virginia of Chronic Gastritis. He was brother to Richard Upchurch.

Died 27 Dec 1864 at Point Lookout POW Camp, Saint Mary's Island, Maryland. Buried in the Point Lookout Confederate Cemetery. My 3rd cousin 3x removed.

Richard is my 1st cousin. He enlisted April 11, 1862 at Camp Mangum in Wake County, North Carolina. He died from unknown causes on June 15, 1862. He was brother to Burkley James Upchurch.

Captured at Jackson Hospital, Richmond, Virginia 04/03/1865. Admitted 03/12/1865 with diagnosis of Debilitas. Unknown date of death. My 4th cousin 4x removed.

William Albert Keith was my Great-Grandfather. He was born in 1834 and died in 1917. He was raised and lived in Wake County North Carolina, near Apex, North Carolina. He was a farmer and a carpenter. He is buried at Swift Creek Baptist Church. He joined in 47th in 1862. He was wounded at Gettysburg. Returned to join battles at The Wilderness, Spotsylvania, Cold Harbor, and Petersburg. He was taken prisoner at Fort Stedman in March 1865. He was imprisoned at Point Lookout, Md. Took oath to U.S. and returned to N.C.

GN Lewis (1825-1892) from Spring Hope NC, volunteered on 27 Feb 1862 and was assigned as Lieutenant of Co. D, NC 47th Infantry on the same day. He was wounded during the Battle of Bristow Station on 14 Oct 1863. He was called back to NC to serve as a state legislator for Nash County in 1864. His resignation was granted in August of that year.

According to CSA records, he died 14 May 1863.....would appreciate any information on how/where he died (there is no indication of battle at that time nor indication of him being wounded earlier).

James mustered into service at Camp Mangum in Raleigh NC on April 11, 1862 at the age of 28. He died during the Siege of Petersburg on March 31, 1865. He almost made it. He left behind a wife Sallie and four sons, Joseph, James, Willis and Albert.

Fenner married Marion Josephene Darwell (born 16 March 1841 in Georgia). Co.F 47th Infantry Regiment N.C. CSA (The Sons of Liberty). Per Fenner’s military record: Residence: Franklin Co. Enlist Date: 10 March 1862 Occupation: Farmer Service Record: Enlisted as a Private on 10 March 1862 in Franklin Co., N.C. at the age of 18, assigned to Company F, 47th Regiment N.C. on 11 April 1862. Promoted to Full Corporal on 06 March 1864. POW on 05 April 1865 at Petersburg, VA Confined on 15 April 1865 at Point Lookout, MD (Estimated day). Took oath of Allegiance on 21 June 1865 at Point Lookout, MD. Sources: North Carolina Troops 1861-65, A Roster, (NCRosterC) Published in 1993 47th NC, Pettigrew's Brigade, Heth's Division, was under the Army of Northern Virginia and took part in the Pickett/Trimble/Pettigrew charge on July 3, 1863 at Gettsburg, amongst many other battles. W. Fenner left NC not long after the war and went to Missouri and was in Texas by 1871 (according to TX records). In the 1900 census he is listed on the Midland Co., TX rolls as single and working as a day laborer. By 1906 Fenner applied to the state of TX for a confederate veteran pension as he was no longer able to work due to “suffering from wounds from explosion during war”. He was granted a pension and lived the rest of his days in the confederate veterans home in Austin, TX.

Wounded Gettysburg July 1, 1863. Wounded and captured at Burgess Mill/ Boydton Plank Rd, Petersburg, Virginia, October 27 1864. Wounded in foot, shot through thumb, shot through left thigh. Confined at Point Lookout, Maryland 10-31-1864. Exchanged on February 13, 1865. Admitted to Winder Hospital, Richmond, Virginia on February 15, 1865. Applied for pension, Franklin County, North Carolina.

Enlisted in regiment when it formed. His home was Louisburg in Franklin County. Unknown when he left the regiment. He survived the war and was the postmaster in Louisburg after the war where he died in 1903.

Served from February 1862 until his capture at Sutherlin Station April 2 or 3 1865. He is mentioned as leading his company at Gettysburg July 3 in NC Regiments. Served with Co H as a lieutenant until his promotion to Captain just prior to Gettysburg. He served under D. H. Hill at the siege of Washington, N. C., being posted at Core Point just across the Nuese River. He saw action at Goldsboro, New Bern, Plymouth, Gettysburg, Bristoe Station, Mine Run, Wilderness, Bethesda Church and Sutherlin Station. Was captured at Sutherlin Station, sent to Old Capitol Prison and then to Johnston Island Prison on Lake Erie. Released from Johnston Island Prison in June of 1865, arrived home (Raleigh vicinity) June 17th after taking oath of alligeance.

James was my great-great 1st cousin who volunteered 04/30/1862 along with his brother Patterson. Fought with his unit at Gettysberg and other engagements before being captured at Petersberg, Va. 10/27/1864. Taken to Pt. Lookout and released 06/03/1865.

Patterson was my great-great 1st cousin who, along with brother James, volunteered on 04/30/1862. Fought in the engagements leading to Gettysberg where he was part of the Pettigrew-Trimble brigades and charges. He was later captured with James at Petersberg, Va. on 10/27/1864 and later released from Pt. Lookout, Md. 06/13/1865.

Zachariah was my great-great 2nd cousin and cousin to James and Patterson also of the 47th co k. At age 24 he volunteered on 04/20/1862. He and the cousins fought thru numerous engagements before Gettysberg. He survived and was later captured along with the cousins at Petersberg, Va. 10/27/1864 and was exchanged 03/28/1865 from Pt. Lookout, Md. returning to the regiment later to be paroled on 05/10/1865.

Milton was my great-great 2nd cousin who volunteered at age 20 on 04/20/1862. He survived the engagements leading to Gettysberg and survived the slaughter of the regiment. on 10/27/1864 he was captured at Petersberg, Va., taken to Pt. Lookout Md. where he was released on 06/27/1865.

Josiah was my great-great 1st cousin. Fought th gettysberg campaign as well as other battles. Ended up in the Lynchberg, Va. hospital 05/04/1864 for an unk reason but returned to duty and paroled at Greensboro, NC 05/05/1865.

Riley was my great-great 1st cousin and brother to William. they both volunteered for service 04/20/1862.He was 32. They came thru the numerous engagements the regiment was involved and fought at Gettysberg. He was wounded 05/10/1864 and later captured at Sutherland Station Railroad, City Pt., Va. He was taken to Harts Island, N.Y. and released 06/17/1865.

William was my great-great 1st cousin who volunteered on 04/20/1862 at age 20. fighting with the regiment he was later wounded at Gettysberg and was taken back to Va. he was wounded again prior to 09/30/1864 and captured at Sutherland Station, Va. 04/03/1865. he was released from Pt. Lookout, Md. on 06/28/1865.

Enlisted at Graham, NC, with his brother Michael R. Sharp. Wounded in the hand during Pickett's Charge at Gettysburg on July 3, 1863. Michael was captured and died while a POW at Fort Delaware in October 1863. Alpheus suffered a major gunshot wound to the right thigh during the battle of Cold Harbor in June of 1864. Remained in hospital until March 1865. Released from the hospital and paroled at Greensboro, NC, in April 1865.

Thomas Tarpley Residence Alamance County NC; 18 years old. Enlisted on 4/26/1862 at Alamance County, NC as a Private. On 4/30/1862 he mustered into 'K' Co. NC 47th Infantry He died of disease on 5/22/1862 at Goldsboro, Wayne Co., NC Originally buried at Willow Dale Cemetery, Goldsboro, Wayne Co., NC later moved to Providence Church Cemetery, Graham, Alamance Co., North Carolina on Memorial wall in Willow Dale Cem.

Andrew was my great great 2nd cousin who, at age 21, volunteered for service on 04/20/1862. At Gettysberg he was wounded and taken prisoner. It's unk where he was taken, released or even if he survived.

George, my great great 2nd cousin, enlisted for service 04/30/1862. Fought at Gettysberg and was taken prisoner 07/03/1863.

Julius was my great great 2nd cousin and volunteered for service 04/30/1862. He was wounded at Gettysberg but not captured. he was killed in action 05/05/1864 during the Wilderness fight.

Levi was a great great 2nd cousin who volunteered for service 09/14/1862 and was later wounded at Gettysberg. He was captured 04/02/1865 at Garrett, Va. and taken to Hart's Island NY where he was paroled on 06/17/1865.

Simeon was my great-great 1st cousin who, at age 43, joined the regiment on 03/13/1863. He was wounded at Gettysberg but returned to duty. He was wounded in the knee prior to April 1865 and captured while recovering in Jackson Hospital, Richmond, Va. He died on 04/25/1865.

my great-great 1st cousin henry enlisted 03/13/1862.he was in the pettigrew/trimble charge at gettysburg. his uncle william was in the 52nd n.c. that also participated in the charge. henry was wounded 06/02/1864 and was taken prisoner near petersberg, va on 10/27/1864. he was held at pt. lookout,md. until his parole in 1865.
