his unit, etc. I do have a diary made up of letters during his
military service. He served at Perryville, Ky., Nashville,
Chattanooga, and on Sherman''s march to the sea.

Scott (as he was know by) was transferred to 77th Co, 2nd Battalion Veteran Reserve Corps, May 26, 1864.

His obit states he sustained three bullet wounds during the Civil War , but I can''t find any other reference to this.

Charles Lewis Bender was my Grand-Uncle and died December 18, 1862 while serving the Union, and is buried in Nashville National Cemetery - Site 4843.
