108th Ohio Infantry

Volunteered to help defend Washington in 1861 at 16 years old. With the 108th Ohio Infantry, took part in Antietam, Fredericksburg, Chancellorsville, and Gettysburg. Served directly under General Grant when Fort Fisher was captured, took part in General Sherman's march to the sea, and witnessed the surrender of General Lee. Joseph died in 1920.

Sgt John Dehner buried at St Joseph Cemetary, 1894 in Cincinnati Ohio. I am his great, great grandson. With Co A from1863 to 1865. Promoted to Sargent and assigned to Co H.

Enlisted in Cincinnati on September 12, 1862 died at Camp Dennison on January 25,1863 of Typhoid Fever.

Enlisted 13 NOV 1862. Fought at Battle of Bentonville, NC, on 19 MAR 1865. Honorably discharged on 22 JUL 1865.

He lived in Cincinnati, Hamilton County. Served in L company.
