George Washington Lowery Served 19 July 1864 - 25 June 1865 Wounded 7 April 1865 Battle of Cumberland Church, Farmville, VA Looking for any info about this unit. Particularly photos!

So far all I have is that he is buried in Greenbush Cemetery in Lafayette, IN.

William Punch enlisted in Co C, PA 81st Infantry Regiment on 15 August 1861. Mustered out on 2 Jul 1863 at Gettysburg, PA. Ancestry.com entry says 'Survived the War: NO'. Assume he was a casualty by this. Can someone verify? Thanks! Toni

'QUINDLEN' is the correct spelling of the last name. JPQ was wounded in the right shoulder at Deep Bottom, VA in 1864. Records following that are not in his handwriting and have several variations of the name. The PA monument at Gettysburg has the wrong spelling. His medical case is documented in 'The Medical and Surgical History of the War of the Rebellion' (1877), Part II, Volume II, pages 552 & 559. His image (a lithograph) appears opposite page 536. He was shot and operated on on Aug 14, 1864. The injury is described as: 'A minie ball passed through the head of right humerus, fissuring the upper extremity of shaft.' Treatment was: 'Removal of the head and two inches of humerus, by Surgeon J.W. Wishart, 140th Pennsylvania.' JPQ died in 1871 of his wound which never really healed. He was buried at Union Ground Cemetery in Philadelphia. That cemetery was removed and moved to the Philadelphia Memorial Park in Fraser, PA, in the 1970's. His grave is marked with a veteran's marker. He is the only Civil War burial there. JPQ's grandfather (John) fought in the American Revolution. My father was JPQ's grandson and named for him. The writer, Anna Quindlen, is his great-great grand-daughter.

Enlisted as a Corporal on 15 October 1861 at the age of 19. Captured at Ream's Station, VA on 25 August 1864. Died as a prisoner on 17 January 1865 at Andersonville, GA.

John spent 3 full years in the Civil War. It was reported that he had gun shot wounds to the hand and legs/feet. He was promoted to corporal upon his discharge. He lived until 1884. Anyone with more info about John please contact me. Thank You
