M.S.Richardson ,enlisted Sep 1861,remained in the 38th until the bitter end.Died May 1874,left wife ,3 kids,no war history.

Gilford was 20 years old when he enlisted on 13 March 1863. He was assigned to Capt. T W Rice's Battery Heavy Artillery Which was later changed to Light Artillery. His archival file has 6 cards. He was in the battle of Brice's Crossroads. His parents were David Thomas and Mary E Taylor. Not much is known about him after this. It is believed he died before Sept. 1870.

He would be a GGG Uncle. One of 6 brothers that foughtfor the Confederacy. Enlisted 6-2-1862 Tuscaloosa Al. with the Tuskaloosa Plowboys. Inducted into the 38th Tenn. Co. G Captured 1-12-1863 released 6-16-1865

He would be a GGG Uncle. He was one of 6 brothers that fought for the Confederacy. Elisted 6-2-1862 in Tuscaloosa Al. into the Tuskaloosa Plowboys. Inducted into the 38th Tenn. Inf. Co. G. He was killed at Adairsville Ga. on 5-7-1864

At Shiloh. Buried in New Garden Cemetery, Limestone County Alabama.

3rd great uncle, grandson of Pvts John McGinnis and John Laws, American Revolution. Wounded @ Stone’s River; captured @ Chickamauga Sept. 1863

Burse B. BLACKWOOD (B.B. BLACKWOOD) enlisted in 9/9/1861 Memphis Co. K 38th Reg't TN Infantry, Capt. John Hutto's Company, Looney's Regt. Originally, 8th Reg't (Looney's Reg't TN Inf.) 9/23/1861 became 1st Co. K, 38th Reg't TN Inf 11/16/1861 transfered to 5th Batt. Alabama (part of 50th Reg't of Alabama) reorganized 5/1861 (1st) Company A subsequently served as Capt. Rice's Independant Co. TN Light Artillery. Burse B. BLACKWOOD is my 3rd Great grandfather.
